23 Jun Safety Self Assessment
Cosywrap Insulation takes the safety of our customers and employees very seriously. There are many possible hazards that come from working in ceiling spaces and Cosywrap has processes in place to ensure our staff and our customers are always safe.
Some of the possible hazards we come across on a daily basis include
Electrical hazards – to counter this we will ensure that the power is always turned off while we are in the roof space. When we isolate the power, we will also check your switch board. If we come across anything in your roof we see as a potential risk to our customers we will notify you while we are on site, or via email if you are not available during our installation.
Heat Stress – can be an issue for our staff in the extreme heat of summer. Cosywrap ensures our staff have a plentiful supply of cold and frozen water and are provided with loose fitting breathable uniforms to keep them as cool as possible. We encourage our team to take more frequent breaks during the hot weather and we make sure our jobs are resourced properly so that our team can finish before the day gets too hot.
First Aid – Our team all have first aid training to ensure that if a staff member does get into any difficulty we always have someone available to give them a hand.
Personal Protective equipment – Our teams are also provided with all the necessary protective equipment including a respirator to protect them from inhalation of dust and fibres & cut resistant gloves to protect their hands.
Working at heights – Perhaps the most obvious risk to our staff is working at heights. All of our staff members have completed an accredited working at heights training course. Safety harnesses are also provided and our team are all familiar with safe use of ladders. If the weather is too hazardous for roof entry to your ceiling, our team will endeavour to find another way to get your job done.
Safety Assessment – As part of the insulation works there is a government requirement for the home owner as well as the insulator to complete a safety assessment, the Office of the Technical regulator provides a checklist for both you our customer and our Team Leader to complete. Once you have decided to engage us to insulate your home we ask that you download the Safety Self Assessment form and use the accompanying tips to complete the form before returning to us.
The Safety Self Assessment is a form provided by the Office of the Technical Regulator and is required to be completed prior to having your home insulated so that you and your installer are aware of items in your roof space that might pose a risk to anyone.
